Former Slough postman turned Government Minister Alan Johnson MP is returning to Slough on 6th November for a Labour Gala event where he will launch his new book ‘Please, Mister Postman’ in the town where most of the events it describes happened.
Following his award-winning best seller ‘This Boy’, ‘Please, Mister Postman’ tells the story of Alan Johnson’s time as a local postman whilst living on the Britwell Estate. Mr Johnson will launch the book at a dinner hosted by local MP Fiona Mactaggart where he will be the guest speaker.
Speaking ahead of the dinner, local MP Fiona Mactaggart said: “I’m delighted that Alan has chosen to come to Slough, a place he called home for 19 years, to launch his book locally”.
“I look forward to welcoming him alongside residents and some of his former colleagues to what I’m sure will be a fantastic evening.”
The dinner will take place at 7pm on Thursday 6th November at Haveli Restaurant on Stoke Poges Lane. Tickets are available for £40 and includes a three course meal, soft drinks and a champagne reception. There will also be a chance to purchase signed copies of the book.
