Slough MP Discusses Slavery With Church Leaders

Fiona Mactaggart and Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, the Co-Chairs of the APPG on Trafficking and Modern Slavery hosted a meeting in the House of Lords with church leaders who are the descendants of slaves. “The difference between slavery now and the transatlantic trade which was abolished 200 years ago is that modern slavery is hidden” said Fiona.  She reminded the audience that slaves were to be found as domestic servants, bricklayers, prostitutes and in factories.  She asked for support from the church leaders to make planned legislation on modern slavery effective in tackling this vile trade.
