Today is Cycle to Work day (September 4th) and Slough MP, Fiona Mactaggart cycled to work to the House of Commons as she does every day she is in Parliament. Cycle to Work day is a national event championed by multi gold medal winning Paralympic cyclist, Dame Sarah Storey, which aims to encourage everyone to take to two wheels and cycle to work for one day.
Fiona said, “I recognise the health benefits of cycling, it not only helps to keep me fit, but helps to reduce pollution and congestion too, and it cuts travelling costs.
“And because I cycle I am in a good position to act when cycle paths are poorly maintained and to put pressure on the rail companies to enable cyclists to use the trains without getting in the way of other passengers.
“I would encourage everyone to cycle just one day to try it out, and then stick with it if you can.”
