20th April 2015 – Deadline for Registering to Vote

The deadline to register to vote in the general election is 20 April 2015. Fiona Mactaggart, Labour parliamentary candidate for Slough said, “If you don’t register, you can’t vote.  Sometimes people complain that their vote won't decide the outcome.  I remind them that in 1964 Slough changed from Labour to Conservative by 12 votes.

"Even if you feel a bit disappointed with politics there is probably an issue which helps you to decide how to vote on 7th May 2015. Whether it’s being able to see your GP, getting a home you can afford, making sure your job is secure, feeling safe from crime or ensuring the best start for your children, all these issues are affected by the Government.  So make sure you give yourself the chance to choose by going online to https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.  If you don’t, other people will decide for you.”
