Following the report published by Sir Howard Davies on airport capacity, Slough MP Fiona Mactaggart said, “I welcome Sir Howard’s measured report together with its recommendation, to build a 3rd runway to the north-west of Heathrow.
“My support for expanding Heathrow has always come with requirements; strict controls on noise, including runway alteration and a ban on night flights, improvements to air quality and jobs and apprenticeships for local people. I’m glad that this commission has proposed practical and powerful measures to deliver these things.
“It’s clear that the best option for our national economy and Britain’s competitiveness is additional capacity at Heathrow, and the Government has put off necessary action for too long.
“The Government must now act. Ministers have to work with Heathrow to deliver these recommendations. Government must act soon or Britain will slip behind other countries and Slough will lose jobs.”
