Fiona Presents Certificates to Adult Learners

Slough MP Fiona Mactaggart presented certificates to Workers’ Educational Association leaders, celebrating their achievements.

Fiona said, “The WEA does great work, enabling people to better their lives and prospects. Adult education courses are facing cuts at the moment, so I’m glad that the WEA is doing what it can to provide what is an essential service that gives people the basic skills they need to be able to make more of a contribution to our society. These learners are gaining English language skills to help children with homework and getting basic maths qualifications to enable themselves to gain employment, and through learning they gain confidence to contribute in many ways to their neighbourhood.

“Well done to everyone who has taken part in classes, putting in hard work and dedication. It was great speaking to the students and their families. They were rightly proud of their achievements!”

The presentation ceremony took place on Saturday 19th September at Slough & Eton School.
